CLIENT:United States Army Corps of Engineers

AMOUNT:$ 1,712,345.04

SCOPE: The 6500 Block Streets Task Order Contract consisted of demolition of existing and installation of new storm water sewer system with inlet structures and flumes, demolition of existing concrete slabs, steps, curbs and sidewalks, along with existing asphalt pavement parking areas and entrances.
800 LF of new extruded concrete curbing, 11650 LF of standard curb and gutter, 2000 LF of new 6 foot wide concrete sidewalk on aggregate base with applicable ADA ramps and aggregate pathways were installed throughout the project.  5 miles of existing asphalt pavement roadways and entrances were milled and resurfaced consisting of 12000 LF of new 10-foot wide aggregate shoulders including roadway, bus pull-off and parking lot striping and lettering.
Site restoration activities included importing of approximately 1600 tons of soil, grade work to ensure positive drainage to existing and new storm water sewer system structures, placement of approximately 1 acre of sod and approximately 6 acres of seed and straw.
The project was a challenge due to the contract being awarded in late fall of the year.  Inclement weather was a constant factor which required AACON to consistently modify the sequence of the project schedule and restructure manpower and equipment resources.  Despite performing majority of the work during winter months and the impacts resulting from inclement weather, the 6500 Block Streets Task Order Contract was completed under budget, zero recordable accidents and ahead of schedule.
