Michael Lathon Michael D. Lathon

Michael Lathon is the President of AACON General Contractors. Born in Nashville, TN, Michael is the youngest of five sons. Michael and his wife Sandy have been married for 22 years and are the proud parents of three daughters. Michael joined the United States Marine Corps June 6, 1985 at the age of 17 where he served honorably for 22 years. Michael spent his entire 22 year career in the demanding Infantry Military Occupation Specialty (MOS). He spent time serving in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Quatar, and Southeast Asia.

Although an Infantry Staff Non-Commissioned Officer, Michael has significant construction management experience. While in Iraq, Michael worked at Abu Gharaib Prison as a force protection officer, he was in charge of all construction and fortification projects. Michael worked with the Air Force Construction Unit as the sole supervisor to oversee base fortifications and safety modifications at Abu Gharaib Prison.

The Abu Gharaib Prison project consisted of design, construction and fortification of a twenty acre security facility that housed 1700 personnel. Michael managed and oversaw the construction of approximately twenty (20) facilities’ including: Living Quarters, Chow Halls, Weapons Storage Facilities, Base Hospital, and Administrative Facilities. Michael also set up construction barriers outside the base to prevent suicide bombers and small arms fire from entering. While in Iraq, Michael was hit by shrapnel and received a Purple Heart. Michael was awarded numerous medals and ribbons during his military service as a United States Marine, including The Joint Service Commendation Medal for participating in the counter drug operations.

Troy Ansert founded AACON General Contractors October 2005. Born in Louisville, KY, Troy is the fourth of five sons. Troy graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems and Management in 2000. He started his career with United Parcel Service (UPS) as a Systems Engineer working on the UPS Worldport Project. UPS Worldport is the largest package sortation facility in the world covering over 1 million sq. ft. of space. After the completion of Worldport, Troy made a career change and moved into medical sales. Troy acquired a position with DePuy Spine, a Johnson and Johnson Company, selling spine implants to Orthopedic and Neuro Surgeons. During his time at DePuy, Troy attended a number of sales and marketing seminars that helped him advance his knowledge to make himself more successful in the industry.

Troy assisted AACON in being awarded its first project in 2006. Since that time AACON has had continuous growth and now has completed over 70 projects. AACON has completed a number of projects for federal agencies such as General Services Administration (GSA) and the Army Corps of Engineers, the company has also completed projects for companies such as BASF, Brown Forman, E-On U.S., Sysco Foods and Humana to name a few. Troy’s business development skills have allowed AACON to achieve valuable relationships throughout the construction industry which has given AACON the ability to grow from year to year.

Douglas L. Calhoun has been an AACON team member since 2006. Born in Henderson, KY, Doug is the eldest of two children. Currently Doug is married and the proud father of two daughters. Doug graduated from University of Louisville in 1994 with a degree in Biology. At the University of Louisville Doug was a letterman in Basketball, Football, and ran on the men’s track team. After his college career Doug started his sales career in the pharmaceutical industry working for Abbott Laboratories.

Today, Doug works full-time with St. Jude Medical as one of the company's most successful sales representatives. Doug’s corporate experience helps bring ideas that have proven to be successful in the corporate environment to the AACON team. Doug is also a territory manager for St Jude Medical, the skills Doug has obtained over the years helps the AACON organization manage and lead its employees to get the most productivity possible. Doug’s corporate experience has played a vital role in the growth of AACON; he is a valuable part of the AACON team.
