Our Story
Carrying Forward a Legacy of Service
AACON General Contractors began as a vision rooted in family and service. Founder Troy Ansert was inspired by the example of his father, Donald Ray Ansert Sr., a decorated U.S. Navy veteran who served as a frogman during the Vietnam War. As part of an elite special operations unit trained in underwater warfare, reconnaissance, and demolition, Don applied those same skills and discipline as an underwater welder supporting Navy and Marine operations.
Following his military service, Don Ansert pursued his entrepreneurial drive by founding Ansert Mechanical, laying the groundwork for a legacy of leadership and business ownership. His service and craftsmanship left a lasting impression on Troy and shaped his belief that construction could be more than building structures. It could support missions and strengthen communities.
In 2005, Troy founded AACON General Contractors, guided by the vision of building a firm capable of supporting federal construction contracts nationwide. From those early days, AACON has grown into a company trusted by agencies across the country, combining technical expertise with the same values of service, integrity, and hard work that inspired its founding.
A New Chapter of Growth
Michael Lathon served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years, gaining valuable leadership and construction experience during multiple overseas tours, including Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Panama, and Southeast Asia. While deployed in Iraq, he worked alongside the Air Force Construction Unit, supervising base fortification and safety modifications at Abu Ghraib Prison.
After retiring from military service, Michael broadened his education with a Graduate Certificate in Construction Management from Northeastern University and continued coursework in occupational health and safety. In 2010, he joined AACON as majority owner, bringing with him his military background and federal contracting knowledge.
That same year, AACON achieved certification as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), and in 2016 was designated as an SBA 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business. We are proud to be a small business contractor and remain focused on our mission to support the maintenance, repair, and building of the nation’s federal facilities and infrastructure.
Proven Success, Nationwide Reach
Over the past 20 years, AACON has delivered thousands of projects across 30 states, including more than 500 for federal agencies.
Our portfolio demonstrates success in civil construction, facility renovations, secure facility upgrades, MEP systems, and mission-critical building envelope repairs. With more than 185 sole-sourced projects, AACON has earned a reputation for delivering projects safely, on schedule, and in compliance with requirements—performance that federal and commercial partners can measure and rely on.
This success is made possible by our team of accomplished Project Managers, Superintendents, Site Safety Officers, and QA/QC professionals, whose expertise ensures that every project meets the high standards of safety, quality, and disciplined execution that AACON is known for.
Building the Future Together
AACON’s future is anchored in continuing to deliver the reliable construction services our federal partners count on while broadening our reach into the commercial, healthcare, and education sectors. Our goal is to apply the same federal-grade safety, compliance, and quality standards to diverse clients who require disciplined execution and lifecycle-driven construction solutions.
A central part of this growth is the AACON-RavenVolt Joint Venture, created under the SBA Mentor-Protégé Program. Together, AACON and RavenVolt, an ABM Company, combine proven federal contracting expertise with advanced energy engineering capabilities to deliver energy resilience, microgrid, and infrastructure modernization projects. While uniquely positioned to support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Defense, and NAVFAC, the joint venture also brings these capabilities to commercial, healthcare, and institutional clients seeking renewable power generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and mission-critical backup solutions.
As organizations across sectors prioritize sustainability and resiliency, the AACON-RavenVolt JV provides a small-business pathway to achieve these goals while meeting federal procurement standards and aligning with broader infrastructure modernization needs.
AACON Frontline: Integrated Facility Resilience
Separate from our JV work, AACON launched AACON Frontline, an integrated service platform as a programmatic solution. Frontline focuses on proactive facility defense—identifying risks before failure occurs, delivering lifecycle-based construction solutions, and mobilizing coordinated field teams to extend asset life, reduce unplanned capital expenses, and ensure mission continuity.
By combining preventive maintenance, innovative monitoring technologies, and proactive repair and restoration strategies, AACON Frontline helps clients reduce unplanned capital expenditures (CapEx) spending, control lifecycle costs, and safeguard facility operations across federal, healthcare, education, and commercial environments.
Building Our Legacy, Strengthening the Next 20 Years
From our first federal project in 2006 to delivering thousands of contracts nationwide, AACON’s story is one of steady growth, disciplined execution, and a commitment to supporting the missions of our federal partners.
We are proud of our beginnings, the milestones that shaped our path, and vision for the future.
