AACON supported the USDA Forest Service’s post-storm recovery efforts along the Virginia Creeper Trail in southwest Virginia following Hurricane Helene. Working within a heavily damaged trail corridor in Washington and Grayson Counties, our team removed storm debris, demolished damaged structural remnants, and helped clear affected areas to support safe access and ongoing restoration.

The project included removal and disposal of tree debris, structural debris, waste materials, and other storm-related obstructions throughout the corridor. AACON also performed hauling, disposal coordination, and incidental earthwork in remote and constrained field conditions where access was limited by washed-out crossings and damaged infrastructure.

Despite challenging site conditions, AACON completed the major Phase I work ahead of schedule and removed an additional 10,000 cubic yards of approved debris during the period of performance. Our performance on this effort led to AACON’s award of the Phase II follow-on task order.

Success Story- AACON helped accelerate recovery along a storm-damaged recreational corridor by safely completing major debris-removal operations ahead of schedule in a remote, access-constrained environment. Through organized field execution, flexible logistics, and strong coordination with the USDA Forest Service, AACON expanded the completed work within the original performance period and earned the Government’s confidence for immediate follow-on Phase II work.
