Department of Veterans Affairs: Site Prep Big Bore CT

Memphis VA Clinic

About this Project

AACON was awarded a Design-Build project with the Veterans Administration to perform interior renovations to the existing CT equipment in the Radiation Oncology Room, and to upgrade the space’s electrical and mechanical infrastructure and finishes. Before mobilizing the project site, an infectious control system was installed to protect workers, patients, and visitors from construction contaminants. AACON performed Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures on the CT’s electrical infrastructure to proceed with demolition activities. Existing wall coverings, acoustical ceiling system, light fixtures, and wall base were removed to receive new materials and finishes. Electrical revisions included rerouting electrical conduit and cabling in the existing floor trough for the new CT equipment, the addition of new circuit breakers, and relocation of HVAC registers and diffusers along with an existing gas line. When the selective demolition process was completed, the existing walls were prepared to a Level III finish, painted, and a new acoustical ceiling system with light fixtures was installed. After the final finishes, the VA signed the release for for the CT equipment and AACON’s team assisted the manufacturer, Siemens, during the delivery and installation to ensure all equipment functioned properly once final connections were completed. Prior to demobilization, a final cleaning was performed, and the infectious control devices were removed from the facility.
