AACON General Contractors, serving as prime contractor, successfully completed the Multiple Building Roof Replacement Project at the Cass Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Ozark, Arkansas. The project reinforced structural integrity, enhanced weather resistance, and ensured full compliance with U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) construction standards. AACON replaced roofing systems across seven primary buildings—including the Administrative, Student Union, Education, Welding Shop, Warehouse, Student Services, and Lumber Storage facilities—along with one optional building, the WW Treatment Lab.
Work was executed in carefully planned phases to minimize operational disruption while maintaining safety and efficiency. The project scope included selective demolition, sheathing replacement, installation of standing seam metal roof panels, integration of sheet metal flashing and trim, installation of roof accessories, and application of joint sealants to create a fully weatherproof and durable roofing system.
AACON began by removing existing asphalt shingles, underlayment, flashing, drip edges, and other roof accessories. Once stripped, each roof deck was inspected for structural integrity, and any deteriorated sheathing was replaced with new structural panels meeting International Building Code (IBC) standards for wind uplift and load-bearing capacity. This ensured a solid foundation for the new metal roof systems.
The team then installed factory-formed, standing seam metal roof panels using concealed fasteners and floating clip assemblies to accommodate thermal movement and maintain long-term performance. Installation followed precise manufacturer and ASTM standards, ensuring proper overlaps and seam treatments for superior weather protection.
To enhance drainage and protection, AACON fabricated and installed sheet metal flashing and trim components, including drip edges, ridge caps, and eave and rake trims, all built from pre-finished, corrosion-resistant materials. These elements were installed in accordance with SMACNA standards to ensure consistent water flow and long-term durability.
AACON also upgraded roof accessories, including ridge and soffit vents to improve air circulation, and a new gutter system with leaf covers and downspouts to manage water runoff and protect building foundations. All joint sealants were applied at roof penetrations, vent stacks, and flashing terminations using butyl-based materials to maintain watertight integrity across every structure.
The project was managed with precision and efficiency, maintaining compliance with USDA requirements and minimizing disruption to daily facility operations. Through strategic planning, disciplined execution, and attention to detail, AACON successfully delivered a high-performing, long-lasting roofing system across all seven buildings, demonstrating its continued commitment to quality, safety, and federal construction excellence.
