AACON General Contractors delivered a complex, multi-site security fencing project at Offutt Air Force Base, overcoming significant environmental and regulatory challenges to ensure full compliance with federal and base-level standards. Initial winter weather delays, combined with extended FAA and Construction Airfield Agreement approvals, postponed the start of work at Building 321. Despite these challenges, AACON maintained close coordination with installation officials to secure necessary clearances and ensure that all work met stringent security and operational requirements.
At Building 321, AACON removed and replaced existing gate systems with advanced, automated cantilever gates featuring HySecurity SlideDriver operators, keypad entry, safety loops, and integrated electrical tie-ins. During demolition and installation, temporary fencing was erected to maintain uninterrupted flightline security. Environmental conditions required a change from hydrovac excavation to core drilling and boring, ensuring safe and efficient underground work. The misplacement of the original gate operator and subsequent modifications to meet new security measures led to a contract modification, demonstrating AACON’s responsiveness and adaptability in the field.
Additional scope at the Meyer Gate included installation of 320 linear feet of K4-rated anti-ram cable and bollard systems meeting UFC 4-022-03 standards, enhancing physical security for controlled access areas. AACON also repaired storm-damaged fencing at the Recycling Center, restoring perimeter protection with new rails, tension wire, and fabric materials. All work was executed under ISO 9001 quality control standards, with submittals, certifications, and inspections confirming compliance with UL 325, ASTM F2200, and related criteria.
This project highlights AACON’s expertise in delivering secure, high-performance fencing and gate systems in sensitive environments. The team’s ability to navigate regulatory delays, environmental challenges, and stringent safety protocols underscores AACON’s reliability as a trusted federal contractor capable of managing complex, multi-agency infrastructure projects.
